Bye Bye LE... Hello Walmart

I think everyone saw this coming. As geocoins gain momentum in their already massive popularity the limited quantities from retailers will become a thing of the past. Luckily for us this will do two things. First, encourage more people to do their own coins and sell them over the geocaching.com forum and second the prices of geocoins should go down from the big stores due to the high quantities. (Unless they decide to stick it to us.)

The independent releases are getting really good! Most of the time they surpass the typical online swag stores by large margins in both creativity and quality.

If you know the coin is being rerun a bunch of times you really shouldn't pay more than $5 for it. As consumers we will need to force retailers into passing along the savings.
