Pathtags did a big upgrade to their site. It's funny because I just completed some trades today. I think some people will really get into this. I am waiting to see how well it works with the outside world. The current adds definitely make trading easier, but I would like to see how these travel. It is really great having an inexpensive personal item that's cool... I do believe they are somewhat like kids though... you love your own :) You can check out the site with limited access here.
*Quoted Text* (From Mike at The Geocoin Store)
Trading works like this:
- Find a tag you like
- Select "Offer Trade" from the tag's profile or from the gallery
- After you offer the trade, you have to wait for your partner to accept
- When they accept, the trade tool "lights up" the item where you can indicate you mailed it.
- After your partner has sent their tag, your page lights up with an area to type the serial to confirm receipt
- After both partners indicate receipt, the trade auto-closes and is preserved in your full history
Also, we are tracking the dates of each stage in the trade so eventually we'll be able to highlight "speedy traders" (those who get their tags out quick after accepting a trade) and like PayPal we'll start showing you how many trades your partner has completed successfully so you can gauge their experience. Accept that newbies will be low. Rather than allow "feedback" we're doing this method. We expect that if anyone gets shorted in a trade a) we and everyone else will hear about it and b) it's a Pathtag - not a Geocoin. You're out about $1.50 on the deal with postage and packaging. We know it stinks, but it hurts less than getting shorted a coin. So we'll see how it works first.
Once the trade tool is refined a little I\'ll be moving on to the social networking features of the site. This will enable you to see who has your tag, where they are, etc. Should be pretty cool, but no ETA until the trading and collecting tools are open.\n In February, we have tentative plans to open the community to the public in whatever way makes sense (they may not be able to offer/accept trades for instance - since they have nothing to trade you. Right now it's a close community. We want to open at least the collection tool to the public so they can log that they have your tag. That way you can see your complete social network, not just other owners.
